Health, Safety and Environmental Risks of Underground CO2 Sequestration

CO2 Sequestration poses many risks - this UNPROVEN technology is still experimental and the public has every right to be concerned and opposed to being part of such a risky experiment which includes such risks as man-made earthquakes, contamination of freshwater aquifer, asphyxiation.....and it goes on and on.


Currently, large-scale "demonstration" projects are being implemented in communities with the opportunity to no vote - educate yourself and your community on the risks and lack of rewards... take a stand! Fight back to protect your community!

I believe it was the Dutch who said, "After you put it under Manhattan you can put it here"

In the U.S. these projects are financed largely with taxpayer money - money that could have been spent on renewable energy.

This essay addresses health, Safety, and environmental risks that need further research.

Local Opposition to Proposed CO2 Sequestration Project Grows in Darke County OH

Citizens Against CO2 Sequestration - the grassroots movement in Darke County, Ohio is growing to send raise public awareness of the proposed large-scale CO2 sequestration EXPERIMENT planned for Darke County and the risks to their community.

Signs are going up all over the county.

Thank you to all who are showing your opposition to the EXPERIMENTAL CO2 Sequestration project planned for our community! Talk to your friends and neighbors, plan to attend The Stop CO2 Sequestration rally and our Call To Action Meeting on Monday, June 29, at the All Seasons Place on Sebring Warner Road at 7 PM.

A public Stop CO2 Sequestration Rally is planned for Saturday morning - June 27 - Annie Oakley Park in downtown Greenville at 10 am - more details coming soon. Signature Petitons, information will be available as well as Yard Signs. Yard Signs can be purchased for $5 each.

“We have to consider how this would affect surface owners,” Webster said. “In other words, if they own the land, the mineral rights are asserted for someone else that they have no legal right to. Do we inadvertently impose liability on them?”

“When I talk about landowners, I think industry shares those same concerns,” Webster said. She said no one wants unfunded liabilities 30 years down the road.

“It is the unknown that is causing people to pause,” she said.

Discussion about some industries want more assurances about liabilities - suggestions include the state taking on liability or creating a superfund"

The need for a bill to clarify the ownership of pore space under land and water.

The conversation on CO2 sequestration will only grow, Webster said. “It’s bigger than West Virginia. There are national people who can’t answer these questions,” she said.
